First Christian Church is a serving congregation seeking to meet many of the needs of the community. We work actively with ecumenical ministries in Fort Stockton and seek to help others in service to Christ. We provide wonderful and uplifting ministries for children, youth, and adults of all generations. Here are seven highlights that are foundational characteristics of First Christian Church:

We Are A Part Of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

First Christian Church is one of 3500 congregations in the United States and Canada who call themselves “Disciples.” The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is the first Christian denomination founded on American soil. We number about three-quarters of million members.

The Disciples faith perspective is one of religious freedom and responsibility. We believe that each person has a unique and valuable insight into God’s Word in scripture. Together we challenge each other by sharing our perspectives and intentionally seeking to grow in faith and understanding.

Disciples celebrate communion each week when we gather for worship. Everyone who believes in Christ is invited to share in communion at the Lord’s Table.

Disciples believe in “the priesthood of all believers.” Men, women, and children take their place along side ordained ministers in worship and in church leadership.

Disciples strive for Christian Unity. We seek to unite with all Christians, affirming that there is one body in Christ.

By the grace of our Lord, may we ever do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:6-8).
